Last Saturday, a small city was buried under tons of soil after torrential rains triggered severe flooding and mudslides in the city of Mocoa, in southwest Colombia.
At least 300 people became victims of the disaster. More than 260 of them were injured, another 200 were missing.
The reason was the overflow of three rivers in the southwest of Colombia.
The descent of the mud flow began at night, so a large number of Mocoa residents could not get out of their homes on time.
For people left homeless, a camp is organized. They are provided with the necessary medicines and nutrition.
In the disaster area, rescue services have been operating for some time now. They are providing assistance to the victims. Doctors state a high probability of epidemics, including chicken pox, hepatitis B and tetanus.
