Not only large areas of Niagara Falls were covered with ice, but also some structures near it. Street lights turned into figured ice pillars. The stairs and the railing of parapets had ice on them forming strange shapes.

According to preliminary estimates by experts, in some areas of Niagara Falls the thickness of the ice can exceed 10 m. However, the complete freezing of the water source is almost impossible, experts say. The reason for this is an impressive aggregate volume of water and a rapid flow of the river.
